 TThe only preparation required in this basic beginner colored pencil lesson is applying the design to the suede board. This would be a great project to teach at a chapter meeting or to beginner students. It uses
the linear motion with varying degrees of value to create the cylinder form.
PREPARATION
Tape the design to the suede board and slip the graphite under the drawing.
Use Prismacolor Verithin Orange to trace the lines, trans- ferring the drawing to the surface. Suede board is receptive to graphite, but dark lines will easily cover with the pencils used in this project. Tracing over the lines with the orange pencil will allow you to see what has been transferred so that the same line is not transferred multiple times.
Unless otherwise noted, in this lesson you’ll use a linear (back-and-forth or up-and-down) motion of the pencil with lines overlapping.
