Decorate the eggs with strokes, stripes, circles, etc. Sign it be- fore painting the rim with Dark Mix or Low-Dark Blue Mix. When the oils are completely dry, spray several light (never heavy) lay- ers of Krylon Clear Varnish Spray. Read and follow the time con- straints on the can label.
BRUSH CARE
At the end of your painting session, clean your brushes well. Properly cleaned and cared for, oil brushes can have a long life. This is an easy method to clean them without using odorless brush cleaner, mineral spirits or products to which many are sensitive or allergic.
Pinch-wipe bristles between layers of soft paper towels to re- move excess oil paint. Swish brush in baby oil or walnut oil to soften and release paint from the bristles. Blot on soft paper towel- ing. Work Murphy’s Oil Soap into the bristles to remove remain- ing color. Rinse and shape bristles with fingertips and dry flat with nothing touching the bristles.

ard, in Tampa, Fla. She began painting in 1974
and taught classes for 30+ years. She received her
CDA in 1990 and her MDA in 1999 in Wichita
after passing her final category, the Master Stroke
Tray. Her favorite medium is oils but she is currently
fabric painting with So Soft Fabric Paint to make
a quilt she designed. She is retired but still enjoys designing, painting, being involved in her local chapter and with SDP, teaching occasionally, gardening, volunteering at her church, and traveling. She recently taped a segment for Oil Painting Expressions, an online oil painting class at www.oilpaintingexpressions.com.
