Interesting Findings by Position Level
The greatest differences in development format preferences by position were in the areas of online courses, shadowing opportunities, and multi-day conferences.
Hourly employees were:
• Nearly five times more likely than executives to prefer online courses.
• Four times more likely than executives to prefer shadowing opportunities.
• Nearly four times less likely than executives to prefer multi-day conferences.
• More likely than all other employee types to want coaching from a team member.
Other Salaried employees were:
• Nearly five times more likely than executives to prefer online courses.
• Two times less likely than managers and professional/technical employees to
prefer multi-day conferences.
Executives had:
• Less variance in their answers. Their top forms of development (mentoring programs and multi-day conferences) stood out moreso than other position levels, and their bottom four were preferred far less than any other position level’s bottom preferences.
