15 THE POWER WORKBOOK FOR SETTING EMPLOYEE GOALS AND OKRs
The last requirement of a S.M.A.R.T. goal is a deadline. This creates urgency and is another way to ensure success is measured. Committing to a timeframe helps employees focus their efforts in accomplishing a goal on or before the due date. When setting a time-bound goal, question:
• What is the absolute latest deadline for your goal?
• What’s the absolute soonest date this goal could be accomplished?
• If we stay on track, when should this goal be finished?
• What are the checkpoints or milestones we should set to make sure we’re on track?
 Make work awesome.
