Ready. Set. Retire!
in the financial arena, but as you can see, it often crosses over
into other aspects of daily life.
A great place to start the process is by understanding what you
want your retirement to look like. Are you a homebody who
likes to languish around the house, perhaps gardening, reading,
spending time connecting with friends and loved-ones on
social media? Or are you an adventurer who loves getting out,
kayaking, hiking, snowshoeing, and skiing? If so, maybe a
motorhome would be your thing.
Maybe you collect stamps. Or perhaps cruising floats your boat
(sorry!), or perhaps traveling overseas. Do you just love
working and want to stay with it? Or are you socially oriented
and interested in volunteering at the local soup kitchen,
Salvation Army, or Goodwill? Maybe taking a trip to third-
world areas and volunteering there would appeal. Perhaps you
are a doctor and working with Doctors without Borders.
Maybe you just want to spend time with the grandkids. Or a
combination of several of these, or things we’ve never heard
of.
I liked the movie, “The Bucket List” as it brought this notion
into our consciousness. So much so that the term “Bucket
List” is now a common part of our lexicon. One thing about it
I especially appreciated was its specificity. One couple told me
