On this episode Co Smitty down w Byrd was an Olympic Silver Medalist and then
when on to become Heavyweight Champion of the World. His career was truly a family affair. He was trained by his
father and his mother helped work his corner. His wife, Tracy, was also a vocal fixture at ringside of his fights. Chris
may have been a devoted family man and one of the nicest guys in Boxing, but he feared no man inside the ring as
going from Middleweight to Heavyweight proved.

Chris self described 'Crazy Skills' were on display with Smitty in this in ring demonstration.
Byrd had to use all of craft, defense and smarts to rise to the ultimate prize of Heavyweight
Champion of the World

In This Corner premiered on April 1 2004 on the Empire Sports Network broadcasting in Upstate New
York and Nationally on DirecTV and Dish Network. Since that first airing, In This Corner has been on the
air every week and is in its 15th year of featuring one on one interviews and in ring demonstrations with
the biggest names in the sport of Boxing.

There has never been another show that has chronicled the stories of this many World Champions.
