Grandmother, Annie Munford at 129 London Road.

               During this time of constant strife I shared my bedroom with
            various lodgers, but only one at a time! The more we could
            squeeze in, the healthier the family finances!
               I occupied the top front bedroom with a dormer window
            facing over the main A16 road. I would never sleep in the top
            back bedroom as it had for me a positive evil aura. Even being in
            the front bedroom was no protection, nor was the lodger who
            slept in the first bed just inside my bedroom door. I still shiver
            violently at the memory of those evil black shadows that used to
            come and stand over my bed.
               It is probably a good time to mention that I am always
            “aware” of nasty feelings in any house, as soon as I enter the
            door. My wife Ruth is much more sceptical, but when staying
            together at a farmhouse b and b near York many years later we
            both awoke during the night at the same time, to be aware of a
            Roman legionnaire standing over our bed. After a terrified night
