During the summer at weekends and holidays I ran a small
kiosk in the car park selling pop, sweets and crisps to bus trips
calling on the way there and back from the coast.
My mental arithmetic was always spot on after this early
            experience of commerce!
               RESPONSIBILITY
I also took on the role of ‘cellar man’ due to father still
keeping his 9 to 5 job with GPO telephones.
September 1955, I was 11 and had started at the Grammar
School at Boston. The school bus started and finished in our pub
yard, I left home at about 7.45 am and arrived home just before
            6pm.
