                                      July 2001
                       GOLLY DIED TODAY



            Golly eventually died this week.

            Ever since his pal Bonnie passed away last September
            he had mooned about up and down with good and bad
            days.

            He has lost a good deal of weight. The incentive to
            survive has not been the same for him.
            He had one or two bad falls this month but recovered.
            Watching him closely there have been several times we
            have wondered if the time had come, then he would rally
            again!

            This time was different. It was a Thursday, I had been to
            a coffee morning at Billingborough with the Huff family.
            Lots of people there who have not been to the centre and
            it was good PR.
            The Huff’s have supported us from the beginning in 1989
            and this was part of our 2001 campaign for more funds.

            When I got home Golly was acting strangely. Walking in
            circles and looking pained.
            An extra dose of bute made no difference. Nor another,
            Terena had called the vet.
            Julian was on holiday and the only one available was a
            locum. He came within the hour by which time Golly was
            obviously in big pain and inconsolable.

            Terena and I looked at each other and we explained the
