Page 47 - GOLIATH THE TALLEST HORSE IN THE WHOLE WORLD
P. 47
We always ask the vet to use an overdose of painkiller as
we believe there is far less stress for the animal and the
carers too.
I arrived home at the same time as the vet had arrived.
Goliath was obviously very distressed and we put him to
sleep without delay.
By now the fell monger had new equipment so that he
could cremate the horse and we could have his ashes
back for burial at the Centre.
Goliath had to be different even when he died, his ashes
were so profuse they took two large caskets. Each as
much as two men could carry.
Our Methodist Minister kindly conducted a quiet service
and Goliath was buried in two parts!
He had been with us for just over 10 years, almost half
his life!
During his time with Young and Co., Goliath was
declared the Guinness tallest living horse in the World at
19.5 hands high and appeared in the Guinness Book of
records for several years.
