situation to the vet who we had never seen before.
He said he wouldn’t mind doing the necessary. We had
explained previously that to put him to sleep we would
prefer an injection.
Golly was ready too. He put his head on Terena’s
shoulder and as I held him he had his ears forward and
was looking for peace.
It was a great relief to be able to put him out of pain. Big
pain. He died peacefully without really knowing anything
except he was getting help with his big problem.
We have had him cremated.
Isn’t it amazing how these things work out? All the other
horses that have died previously, we have had to let go.
Just a few weeks before Golly died, Pawsons had
installed a new system for horses where they can
cremate them and you can have the ashes of your horse
back.
Golly came back in TWO caskets! Even as he died he
had to be different!
Normally a horse would fill one casket, but not Goliath.
We have a good spot for him right on the corner of the
path. Everyone has to pass him by very time you walk
across the centre.
There is room now for a garden of remembrance and we
have even a small memorial to all the other horses that
could not come back.
