FARRIERS
When Ebony first came to New Bolingbroke, our local friends were able to
help with asking Bert Lambley from Carrington to trim his feet for us.
As you will be aware horse's feet grow like your finger and toe nails. Similar
sort of thing, just bigger. If they are not cared for regularly they can crack and
split, causing all sorts of problems.
Later we managed to get Harry Crow from Lusby to come and do some
shoeing. Harry, who was a very gentle and careing sort of person always
seemed to be of retiring age. We never really knew how old he was, but he
was good with the horses. He eventually began to shoe Jupiter too.
Then we had Jim Hubbard from Somercoates, I think Jim came a time of two
to New Bolingbroke, then he was our regular Farrier at Northcote at the
beginning.
