The second problem was that it had a “car type” MOT test. This was great so
long as we could get away with it. The lorry was obviously not a car but it was
not very big. We did hang on to it as long as we dared!
We even had a brush with “the law” in Sleaford on our way to filming with the
BBC at Belvoir Castle, but “escaped” unscathed. (A good story to follow on
out buzz sprout audio site.)
Look at the little windows above the front wheel on the lorry cab.
Despite them being there and very handy for a dog to use, Dinan always
insisted on sitting on the passenger seat in the lorry cab.
If he became a complete nuisance he had to ride in the goom compartment,
where you can see Helen coming out.
There was access from there into the rear of the lorry where the horses were
loaded.

Dalmatian dogs have great character and are all very individual.
One frosty day Ruth was looking out of this window from the kitchen and saw
a spotty dog walking into the village! It took her a double take to realise Dinan
had walked across the frozen “Basin” and was on an outing of his own.
Another time she found teeth marks in her bathroom towels on the washing
line and we had to devise a sack swinging from a tree in the garden to save
our towels from further damage!
