A client had told me about some ex USAF plastic auxiliary
fuel tanks located close to the site of an American air base that
had been closed for almost 15 years.
This was about 14 miles north of Boston where we lived. I
had been to investigate and found the tanks in what was now a
wood. They were totally overgrown but in their original crates
and appeared to be undamaged. There was a retired farmer
who seemed to be the owner, they were certainly on his land
and I negotiated to buy an initial number to see if they would
            sell.

(Picture above of two “droptanks” converted into a sailing
catamaran. The pointed end has had a “stem” added to give it
            more of a boat shape.
The tanks ended being used for countless different
            purposes.)
