The Ferguson tractor was 12
years or so old and Ford were making big changes to their
1950’s range of tractors with the elderly three speed
gearboxes.
All this progress would take its toll on the town in a few
years to come but for the present it still had charm, elegance
and a hugely popular shopping centre which served the
community for many miles around.
Pictures here include Austin Estate car, Ford Zephyr Mk 2,
Morris or Austin Mini and soon to arrive the 1100 models.
These were all relatively new models and much older ones
like the Ford Prefect and Austin 7 shown below were often to
be found for sale on “The Green” on a Wednesday.
