William, the boss also promised “you will always have
some wheels to get about with. Oh and of course the normal
commission on all sales you make!”

               The whole package looked good at the beginning;
especially as Ruth by this time was fully qualified in her
nursing profession and was working most week-ends too.

This new father and son partnership at “The Garage”, had
already made quite a large amount of money selling second
hand cars from a main road site about 10 miles out of the
            town.
The original business had been a well respected family
concern in Boston, originating from the days when motor cars
            first began!
“Herby”, one of the original partners had been kept on,
although already past retirement age, he resolutely desired to
serve out the rest of his “time” among the love of his life, Motor
            cars.
Herby did not enjoy a happy home life. His wife was a
career teacher and head of a local primary school. His wish to
spend all his time with the cars and clients was
            understandable.
His home was a very pleasant, detached, “solid” sort of
1940’s house in one of the best parts of town.
There was not much Herby needed except companionship
            and TLC.

               MAIN DEALERS
To the new owners, “a group of garages” was a relatively
            new innovation.
Prior to taking over this new venture, the father and son
partnership had not had the experience of a proper “Main
Dealership” which brought with it added responsibilities.
