This copy taken from the Horncastle News is the very first in a series of “Diary Type”
stories that I was asked to write for my previous employers.
The date was the beginning of March 1999 and the newspaper joined my stories to very
clever cartoon pictures drawn by a local artist.
All this jogged my “creative” spirit into continuing more and more of the entertaining
episodes that dogged our everyday life. After all, if they were entertaining enough for the
newspaper readers why not….. the World at large?
So the “It’s a Rum Life” series of books was begun and added to this the sub title of
“Doesn’t everyone live this way”.

After all to us it was all part of our everyday life.
Shortly afterwards, looking back on the years previously, it was not difficult to find more
and more “incidents”.Johnson Press who now own the Mortons group of newspapers
kindly gave me permission to reproduce these stories.
