As an add on......it was John Kirk's father, then looking after the family farm. Who sold me
            my first Fordson Major Tractor for use at the New Northcote Heavy Horse Centre a couple
            of years later. He even allowed me “easy terms” on my £400 purchase!

                    THE CHRISTMAS SHEEP
            We had bred quite a respectable number of Soay sheep since the centre first opened in
            1989.
            Originally, we had bought eight soay ewes from a breeder in Leicestershire and
            transported them home in the back of the Land Rover Long wheelbase ‘Safari’.


            Soay’s are a quite small, ‘feral’ breed originating from the island of the same name situated
            off the western isles of Scotland.
            I suppose they were the size of medium sized dogs and caused a deal of interest to the
