3. Get a good grip
• Decide in advance how to hold the load
• Grasp firmly with both hands
• Attain a good posture
• Are you able to wear suitable gloves
• Watch your fingers
4. During lifting or carrying
• Adopt a stable position, feet should be apart with one leg slightly forward
• Don’t flex the back while lifting
• Avoid twisting the back or leaning sideways
• Keep the load close to the body
• Keep the head up when handling
• Move smoothly
• Do not lift more than can easily be managed
5. Are you wearing the right equipment?
• Protective gloves
• A hard hat
• Eye protection
• Overalls / durable clothing
• Protective footwear / non slip
Pulling or pushing
When pulling or pushing, the following should be taken into consideration:
