38 Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulation LOLER (Forklifts, Tailifts)
The Transport Manager maintains a LOLER Register for the annual checks required for our
vehicles, plant and equipment, if you are concerned that your vehicle has not been
inspected within the last 12 months or there is a safety issue then please discuss this with
your Transport Manager.
All attachments are inspected every 6 months this includes grabs, chains and straps.
Visually inspect the fitted equipment on your vehicle for hydraulic oil leaks. Report any
leaks on your defect sheet, if serious phone your manager immediately and use your
pollution control bucket. Check the levels on any tanks fitted to ensure they are within
safe levels.
Visually inspect all guarding on your vehicle and ensure it is all in good working order
Inspect the vehicle to ensure that all safety features are present and working
Crane lift should be inspected and checked to ensure that the Safe Working Load sensor
is operational and nothing appears broken
RO-RO Hook Loader should be visually checked for excessive wear at the hook and ensure
all safety systems are functioning
Skip Loader controls should be checked including the lift arms, chains, Key plates and
safety pins
Check stabilisers for integrity and working correctly.
If you are required to use a safety harness, then these will be formally checked every 6
months by the company and should be thoroughly checked at use by you to ensure its
integrity.
