1.1 Introduction
This training manual is to be read in conjunction with the Health and Safety Policy latest edition
and the Principal Statement of the Terms and Conditions of Employment already issued to all
staff. It does not supersede or amend any terms and conditions of employment stated within
this document. You should also be familiar with the latest version of the Highway Code if you
are required by the company to drive on the public highway.
The handbook is for all site operatives with the purpose to outline the requirements of the job, to
define the standards, and to enable operatives to comply with Company procedures and the law.
Practical advice is given on various types of vehicles and equipment that may be used including but
not exhaustive:

The Company requires all operatives to read, understand and fully comply with procedures set
out in this handbook. To confirm this, you will be required to sign and return the
acknowledgement at the back of this handbook. Failure to follow the procedures may constitute
misconduct and, in some instances, may invoke the Company’s disciplinary procedure.
1.2 Health and Safety Policy and Procedures
Upon joining Harrison Industrial, you will have been shown a copy of the company Health &
Safety Policy and Procedures document. This document is to make you aware of how the
company operates its H&S functions to ensure that you conduct your tasks in a safe and
careful manner. Should you not understand any part of the document, wish to comment on
the content or offer advice on any part, please speak with your Manager who will aid you
where possible.
Should you require more advice then please speak with any of the Company Directors.
1.3 General Health and Safety Legislation
A copy of the Harrison Industrial Ltd Health and Safety Policy Statement (latest version) is
available at head office. This statement of policy covers Health, Safety, Welfare and the
Environment, and is in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act (HSWA) 1974, and
the appropriate Section of the Environment Protection Act 1990.
