Answer
The composition is useful in setting realistic goals and preparation of solid waste management
system plans. This information allows communities to prioritize source reduction efforts. Materials
can be targeted for source reduction if they constitute a major proportion of the waste stream, are
easy to reduce, or are major contributors to pollution during disposal. Thus, composition factor is
also one of three factors that can affect materials recovery rate [6].
