Some engineers define moisture content on a dry weight basis as

              Analysis procedure          Drying in an oven at 105  C

           For 24 h to ensure complete dehydration and yet avoid undue vaporization of volatile material

           Step 1: Weigh the aluminum dish
           Step 2: Fill the dish with SW sample and re-weigh

           Step 3: Dry SW + dish in an oven for at least 24 hrs at 105°C
           Step 4: Remove the dish from the oven, allow to cool in a desiccator, and weigh

           Step 5: Record the weight of the dry SW + dish
           Step 6: Calculate the moisture content (M) of the SW sample using the equation given above.
