has been judged with all entries on display at the
Visitor Center through mid-August. Stop by and see
for yourself; you will be in awe of the high quality
of every entry.
As an offshoot of
the photo con-
test, an internal
Friends commit-
tee selected the
photos that are
featured in the
2014 Visions of
Red Rock 16-month calendar. The calendar photos
were selected from contest entries regardless of
placement in the contest categories.
The larger-sized calendar is available for sale in the
Elements Gift and Book Store and on-line at
www.friendsofredrockcanyon.org/store.php
The selected calendar photos are also displayed at
the Albertson’s Foothills Store on West Charleston
Boulevard.

And wait. Then wait some more. Norman was again
calling the DMV, on a weekly basis this time, to try
to find out a release date for our plate sales.
The Red Rock Canyon License Plate was officially
released on May 12, 2008. Friends of Red Rock Can-
yon had until December 31, 2009 to generate sales of
the 1,000 minimum to keep the license plate active.
As the recession had just hit, we promoted the plate
in every way we could think of. We finally received
confirmation of 1,000 plates on the road on Decem-

have received approximately $160,000 – so far – in
donations from the charitable license plates sales.
