                                                                 how hot it gets, volunteers are in the habitat filling
                                                                 the water dishes, spritzing the tort food so it stays
                                                                 nice and moist for our connoisseurs and talking to

                                                                 the visitors.

        Carla grew up in a small town in southern Wiscon-
        sin. Her father was a science teacher and he used to
        take her out to collect rocks, catch frogs and turtles
        and to fish. She also worked in a veterinary clinic in
