• Ascend approx 600 ft fairly steep Rock face with minimal equipment assistance.
• Learn and practice different kinds of knots.
• Watch a demonstration of different kinds of Rappelling.
• Rappel down 30 ft with the help of equipment and assistance of instructors.
• Rappel down 130 ft with the help of equipment and minimum assistance of instructors.
• Descend 500 ft through steep gradient along dry stream.
• Activity spread over 6 hours.
Impact of the Practice
Each of the activities impact different aspects of personality of the students.
White-Water-Rafting
• Enabled overcoming hydrophobia (fear of water) particularly in non-swimmers.
• All students were compulsorily put into the water till they gained confidence.
• Promoted Team work (to apply appropriate effort under unified guidance-team
synergy)
• Reinforced ‘I can do it’ feeling and enhanced self-esteem.
• Enhanced self-confidence to face unknown / unfamiliar situations in future.
• Promoted (Body-mind coordination and quick response to fast-changing situations.)
• Instilled a sense of achievement.
Night Trek
• Enabled overcoming Nyctophobia (fear of darkness).
• Created a belief that night (darkness) is not a limiting factor.
• Created awareness about one’s ability to see and function in darkness albeit in a limited
capacity.
• Listening abilities were sharpened, (students had to keep a sharp watch for noises of
animal movements to take necessary evasive steps).
Hill Climbing
• Enabled overcoming vertigo (fear of heights).
• Improved body-mind coordination.
