Job Title: GENERAL SALES MANAGER Department SALES
Supervisor: MICHAEL RENTSCHLER Location: Jim Norton Toyota (TULSA)
Level/Salary Range: Position: FULL TIME
Position Overview:
To motivate and direct the vehicle sales and financial services team, as appropriate to your responsibilities and
accountability, to accomplish the objectives set forth in the monthly, quarterly, and annual dealership profit plan(s).
Education and/or Experience:
◼ College degree preferred.
◼ 10+ year’s automotive experience to include sales management and Finance.
Skills/Qualifications:
◼ Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
◼ Good reasoning skills that mirror the philosophy of the dealer.
◼ Successful managing of sales persons, in an advisory capacity.
◼ Complete understanding of the various departments and their functions in a dealership.
Duties/Responsibilities:
◼ Develop, delegate implementation of and maintain dealership sales system, consistent with philosophy of
Dealer or General Manager. (Goal 1.3% or greater of GST/Used to New ratio of 1.2 to 1)
◼ Communicate compensation plans to sales managers and help them maintain their focus on driving market
share, variable gross and controlling variable expenses.
◼ Maintain clear communication between sales & finance department managers.
◼ Establish, maintain, and merchandise proper mix of new cars and trucks, and maintain an adequate used
vehicle turn rate (utilizing V-auto tool and internal pricing strategies).
◼ Develop focused sales promotions for dealership based on factory incentives, special auction purchases, or
seasonal changes in the marketplace.
◼ Act as sounding board for concerns sales managers/finance producers may have that are not resolvable within
their limits of power.
◼ Monitor, maintain, and exceed manufacturer’s expectations of market penetration and customer retention.
◼ Assist sales managers and sales staff in maintaining a continuous customer contact strategy.
◼ Monitor prospect/customer impressions of dealership through either surveys or mystery shoppers frequently.
◼ Recognize and resolve all sales problems with the dealer’s philosophy in mind.
◼ Report to the General Manager any problems, human resource issues or suspicions discovered through day-
to-day observation.
◼ Responsible for developing a revenue producing Digital Team.
◼ Desk 25% of deals in both new and preowned to maintain and develop consistency on the desk.
Physical Requirements:
◼ The physical requirements of the position are Light to Medium Work.
◼ Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision comparable necessary to drive
vehicles safely.
◼ Constant – Reaching, sitting, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, and hearing.
◼ Frequent – Repetitive motion.
◼ Occasional – Balancing, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, and lifting (~ 15-20 lbs.)
