Titration of 10 ml NaOH sample against 0.1 N H 2SO 4, if the end point is 4 mL,
calculate the concentration of NaOH sample (M.W. of NaOH = 40).
Solution:
H 2SO 4 + 2 NaOH → Na 2SO 4 + 2 H 2O
1 H 2SO 4 ≡ 2 NaOH
standard sample
Equivalence factor (F):
2 x M.W. of NaOH x 0.1
each ml of 0.1 N H 2SO 4 ≡ ≡ 0.004 g NaOH
2 x 1000
Concentration:
4 x 0.004 x 1000
Concn. of NaOH = = 1.6 g/L
10
= 0.16 g%
