From the Desk of the Interim

Executive Director

Erwin Ballarta

Dear TPA Family,
It is an honor to assist the Texas Police Association members and leadership as the Interim Executive
Director. Past Director Raul Vargas’ leadership and direction was greatly appreciated and will be missed.
Effective March 1, 2018, I agreed to assist with the continuation and execution of the many strategic plans
and process that The Texas Police Association has undertaken.

Through the leadership of our board and our President Sam Garrison, TPA has
developed strategic plans for growth and service. I am excited and optimistic in the
direction that TPA is going and look forward to its future successes. It is
understood that it takes a team effort to get us there. I encourage that all our
members come and attend our Annual Conference this June 4-6, at Embassy Suites
in Denton. We miss you and encourage you to say hello and visit us. You may be
retired and have not attended in years, but your support for professional and ethical
law enforcement is important in keeping Texas safe. If you cannot attend, I look
forward to your calls and letters of encouragements.

Since 1895, we have focused on supporting our profession and making it better. We continue to focus on
education, leadership and ethical law enforcement officers.

VP, Coppell Captain Danny Barton, President Sam Garrison, Past President Keith Fletcher, Past Executive Director Jack Ryle
and Past President Bob Christy.

My sincerest thank you to all that has given me a warm welcome back. During this temporary role, I look
forward to working with each one of our members, police agencies, affiliates, and supporters to making
the police profession better.

Blessings,
Erwin
