6. SAMPLING IN BOREHOLES
• Sampling procedures using thin-walled sampler:
• Drill a borehole to the desired depth for sampling.
• Remove the drill tools and lower the sampler to the bottom of the hole.
• Thin-walled samplers are pushed into the soil using continuous static
thrust.
• Note that this method is not suitable for soils containing gravel or
large particles or extremely hard soils.
• After sampling, handle the thin-walled tube with care to prevent
disturbance.
• Apply a layer of microcrystalline wax to the exposed end of the
sample tube
