6. SAMPLING IN BOREHOLES

• Sampling procedures using Mazier sampler:

• The Mazier sampler is employed to collect undisturbed samples for

medium soft to medium stiff cohesive soils.

• The Mazier sampler consists of a double-tube swivel type retractor

barrel.

• It is rotated into the soil either in a cased hole or a hole stabilizer with
drilling mud.

• The core barrel retrieves a cylindrical soil sample without disturbing
its natural structure.
