Academic Seaford
Ed Gordon-Thomson
What do you study?
A Level Biology, Chemistry and History. I’m also doing an EPQ (Extended
Project Qualification) which is the equivalent of half an A Level.
How long have you been at Seaford?
I have been at Seaford for 10 years and I have loved it! Being involved in
every aspect of school life and the leadership opportunities have really
developed me as a person. I’m a subject ambassador for Chemistry, I
excelled at GCSE and, for A Level and EPQ, I’m aiming for top grades.
How have your teachers supported you?
My teachers are fabulous, and they’ve supported me in every way. They
are always available, and I ask them a lot of questions over email or I stay
behind in class. I know that I’ve tried my hardest and that they’ve been
there to help me. Having dedicated prep time in boarding and teachers
to help has really supported me to get top grades. My teachers have
gone above and beyond to support me.

Tell us about your studies
at Seaford?
I love learning and I achieved ten
9s and an 8 at GCSE. I’m studying A
Level Maths, Further Maths, History
and Politics and I’m doing an EPQ
(Extended Project Qualification).
The title is ‘The Application of Maths
in Significant Historic Events’. Topics
I plan to look at are the maths
involved in building the pyramids
and the use of exponentials, and
the R-value in estimating infection
rates during the Covid pandemic.
I’m applying to read Maths at
Cambridge University and I will take
the STEP entrance papers.
How does Seaford’s approach help
you?
I like the style of teaching and, in
the Sixth Form, it prepares you for
university because a lot of lessons
are in lecture style and group
discussions. My teachers stretch and
challenge me, and I feel supported
to get top results.
