Why do you enjoy teaching at Seaford?
I am consistently impressed with how our
students think; their ability to consider
different ways of interpreting issues elevates
lessons and ensures students are utilising
critical thinking skills. Even if it’s outside of
their comfort zone, students are always keen
to give anything a go, and with a smile on
their faces.
Furthermore, it is an immense privilege to
work in these beautiful surroundings, with
supportive colleagues and such kind and
motivated students.
Tell us about your role?
My role is to guide and support students
through their Oxbridge and Russell Group
university applications; my hope is that
students will find the sessions I run most
beneficial as they begin to make their
decisions regarding higher education.
My goal is to ‘unscramble’ the application
process for both students and parents
and provide guidance with selecting the
universities and courses that are right for
students.
Furthermore, I help students with interview
skills – a crucial process, particularly with
Oxbridge – by conducting mock interviews
and exploring past questions. Often this
process exposes students to different ways
of thinking about their subject (and indeed
the world in general), and it is a pleasure
to observe students becoming even more
enthralled by their passion.
The Oxbridge admissions process is a
holistic one: beyond excellent results, top
universities select students who can display
a deep intellectual curiosity, which leads
them to explore their subject beyond the
standard curriculum. I will support students
with wider reading and research in order
to maximise success, to show university
admissions teams that students have that
special something that they are looking for.
