Chainsaw Course
We offer the Level 2 Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross-Cutting course (in partnership with Plumpton College).
“The course is an intense two days of stripping down chainsaws and exploring a variety of cutting techniques,
followed by a final assessment on the third day. It complements our Countryside Management BTEC course and
students can use it to gain work experience and earn money outside of school.”
Peter Bolton, Head of Countryside Management
“I have loved the Countryside Management course and managed to add the extra chainsaw course as
well to develop my skillset even more. The forest and grounds are amazing at Seaford, and I love to get
out of the classroom and work outside. I have also loved boarding, and have made lots of friends and
have laid down lots of amazing memories from my time here. I have had some excellent opportunities
here – I worked on sound and lighting in all the Performing Arts productions and have really enjoyed the
camaraderie of playing in the rugby team. I’m heading to study Forestry at Bangor University.”

Entrepreneurship
Matt Welland
Matt joined Seaford in Year 5 and he found his love of Music, Music Tech and
Media during his time at the school. In Seaford’s Sixth Form and lockdown, he set
up his business after some success posting content on social media.
He now has a big following on social media, and he has a growing and successful
business as a Social Media Content Creator. Matt feels that Seaford helped him
achieve his success, giving him the freedom to create his own business and
fostering his ambition.
“What I love about Seaford is that you can be what you want to be. I’m very
entrepreneurial and the school supported me with time to continue my business
alongside my studies. They’ve been amazing and I was able to do both to an
extremely high level during the Sixth Form. I’ve had to work hard; producing
content for my business is time consuming and they’ve helped me juggle this
with my studies. I’m leaving Seaford with a business that I will continue to grow
and a good grounding in Media, Music Tech and Music – these are all skills I will
use in my business in the future.”
