Beta-Pi Reimagined . . . A V

Construction of Phase I of the project began in December 2011.
Since then, the two upper floors of the old dormitory have
been removed, the remaining first floor has been reconfigured as 2-
and 3-man rooms, and 3 additional floors containing 2-man rooms
 and study areas were added.
The drawings we’ve been publicizing for the last few years do not
fully convey how large the new building is relative to its neighbors.
The new dormitory rises 4 stories, taller than the new house of our
 neighbors, Theta Chi.
The undergraduate chapter held together well during the
construction period. The meal plan continued uninterrupted and
regular work parties kept the place in a semblance of good order
although, as anyone who lived on site during the building of the
social quarters in the 90s will tell you, one never really gets ahead
of the dirt and dust at a construction site. The chapter used the
remaining building as a social space during construction. This
was made possible in part by the build out of a temporary men’s
 restroom on the first floor.
If fundraising and financial models are met, Phase II will begin
immediately following the spring 2014 semester and last through
the 2014-2015 school year. This phase will include the addition of
a 3rd and 4th floor to the social area, providing even more sleeping
rooms for the chapter. The existing exterior will be refaced to
give a consistent appearance throughout and the court yard will
be enclosed, connecting the residential tower and existing front
social/dining structure. When completed, the new facility will be
over 38,000 square feet and will no doubt be considered among the
finest housing on and off campus.

 We need your help!

Now is the time we need your support! Enclosed, you’ll find
a listing of the Fraters who have already made a financial
pledge, many over a 5 year period, towards the capital campaign…
will you consider joining them? Also enclosed, you’ll find a
pledge form. Please complete this form and mail it in the response
envelope to our campaign headquarters. Contributions of all sizes
are welcome, but we hope you’ll consider the strongest pledge
you are able – a $5,000 pledge amounts to roughly the cost of a
 monthly cable bill!
Pledges of $25,000 or higher may be paid to the “TKE
Educational Foundation” and thus are tax deductible to the donors.
All other pledges (non-tax deductible) will be paid directly to the
“Beta-Pi House Corporation”. Pledges can be paid by check, credit
card, or appreciated stock. If your company has a matching gift
program, your pledge of $25,000 or higher, contact us for more
information. For example, if you pledge $25,000 over 5 years
and your company matches that, you would receive credit at the
 $50,000 level!
Would you like to volunteer? Campaign volunteers are
essential to our success! Join other Beta-Pi alumni volunteers in
representing your pledge class. These alumni will be charged with
selecting and reconnecting with approximately 10-15 alumni and
encouraging them to attend events and activities on a regular basis.
If you would like to volunteer, please contact David Adcock ’85
 at: dadcock007@gmail.com.
