On Saturday, October 28, 2017, more than 200 guests sampled
Whirl Celebrates 25 Years a wonderful variety of wines, Scotch whiskies, and craft beers
of the Women’s Board while enjoying exquisite hors d’oeuvres prepared by the Zoo’s
talented culinary staff. Co-chaired by Women’s Board members
The Women’s Board of the Chicago Zoological Society, in Susan B. Frangella and Cathie Overmyer, M.D., Howl-O-Wines
partnership with the Society’s Board of Trustees, hosted the 36th in the Wild featured a raffle and silent auction and raised over
annual Whirl on Saturday, April 29, 2017. This year’s Whirl was $150,000 to support the Society’s education and conservation

and Trustee William C. Kunkler III, the gala drew more than
500 Chicagoland business and civic leaders, who enjoyed a meet-
and-greet with our animal ambassadors, along with dinner and
dancing under the stars.
Proceeds grossed more than $1.3 million to support the
animals at Brookfield Zoo, as well as the Society’s conservation
and education programs.

Stephanie Bryan Kangas and William C. Kunkler III; John P.
Grube, Chairman of the Board; Stuart D. Strahl, Ph.D.,

Amatangelo, Barbara Feldman, Romana E. Malinowski, and
Elisa S. Templeton.
