Yassmin Abdel-Magied

INTELLIGENT - RISK TAKER - KIND

Yassmin Abdel was born in 1991 in Khartoum,

Sudan and is 29 years old. She is well known
because in 2015 she did a TED talk about her head

scarf.

Her and her parents moved to Brisbane, Australia
when she was 18 months old.

In 2010, Yassmin received the young

Queenslander of the year award.

In 2014 she moved to Perth, Australia to work as
a drilling engineer on offshore rigs.

In 2017 Yassmin came out with a book called

'Yassmin's Story' and it was published on the 30th

of January. In 2019, Yassmin then published
another book called 'You must be Layla'.

Yassmin is working on a new book and it will be

called 'Listen Layla' and this book is coming out on
the 2nd of February 2021.

Yassmin has served on multiple boards and

councils, Including the board of Queenslander

Museum, the Australian multi-cultural councils
and many more.
