brass:
Leviticus 26:19
Iron, brass, and bronze, are hard metals that are used to illustrate how one can be sealed off from heaven, from the presence of God, and all that should be coming our way from God.
God is saying, “I will close the doorway to heaven. You will have no entrance, or pouring out any blessings to you from Heaven.”
In the bible days, closed heavens often meant no rain.
If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people;
2 Chronicles 7:13
God said, “If I shut heaven that there be no rain....” Without rain, the seed we sow will die. Without rain, our gardens will not grow. Without rain, the earth and its creatures would not be able to live.
In the Bible, rain is often symbolic of God’s blessings or the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. When there is no rain, the soil and other elements of our soul becomes dry and desolate.
Therefore the heaven over you is stayed from dew, and the earth is stayed from her fruit. And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the moun- tains, and upon the corn, and upon the new wine, and upon the oil, and upon that which the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labour of the hands.
Haggai 1:10-11
