tionship, just as it has done previously when they tried to work with other ministries. Over the years, I have always thought their conduct toward me would surely be differ- ent than their conduct at the last place; but alas, history always has a way of repeating itself!
5. They are experiencing serious problems with their children, and they feel the “change” will do them good? (It will not for them, or for me either... especially for me!)
6. They are merely looking for a ministry they can work with for a “short time” to “use” as a “stepping stone” along the way as they build “their own” minis- try? (If so, they will do exactly that... “tromp” on what I have been carefully building and working on, so they can better promote their own agendas. As they “spiritually violate” our ministry, some of our staff members may also be “turned against” us, and there may be many “fires to put out” after they are finally gone. Needless to say, they will never understand “what” they have done because they will feel they did us a favor by coming to work with us.)
7. They have bill collectors hot on their trail from the previous place or places they used to live. (If I were to loan them any money, one day, in the very near future, they will be faithful to rapture themselves away in the middle of the night and “shake the dust of my bills off their feet,” just as they have the others before me. I am amazed at how the cycle of “bill beating” never seems to be broken in some people’s lives. I used to think, “No... they won’t treat me like they did the last fellow.” But after many firsthand real-life experiences, I have sadly learned otherwise.)
8. They are desiring a position, so they can establish their own “self worth” and “importance”? (If so, they
