Health and
Wellbeing
Your child's health and wellbeing is important to us. We have
a range of policies that cover a variety of these aspects. We
invite you to view these policies and discuss them where
appropriate with the teaching team.
Illness, Emergency Care and
Infectious disease
Botany Park Preschool follows legislative procedures to promote children's health and minimise the
spread of infection. Pleas keep your child home if he /she is unwell.
Botany Park requires children with the following symptoms or illness must be kept at home.
* High temperature (38C or above)
* Vomiting
* Loose Bowel motions
* Rashes - any irritation that can not be identified
* Red swollen or discharging eyes
* If a child seems sick without obvious signs for example tired, irritable, lethargic, not eating / drinking
* Any of the infectious diseases listed in the Public Health and Wellbeing Regulations 2009 exclusion
table
* In the event that your child is suffering from an infectious disease you may need to provide the
Preschool with a medical clearance to return to the Preschool.
In the event that a child becomes ill or injured during a preschool session, a teaching member will
contact the parent/guardian or emergency contact to collect the child. The child will be made as
comfortable as possible and taken care of until somebody arrives to take them home. Medical
attention will be sought for your child in an emergency.
Please note that all teaching team members hold Senior First Aid Certificates and are trained in
Emergency Asthma Management.
If your child is suffering from an infectious disease, please inform a teaching team member so that a
notice may be displayed in the entrance notifying all parents/guardians. Confidentiality will be
respected at all times.
Please ring the Preschool if your child is to be absent
