VIRGINIA MAZZOLA’S APPLE STRUDEL

        Ingredients
        4 cups flour                                                        4 teaspoons baking powder
        pinch of salt                                                      1 cup milk

        6 heaping tablespoons of Crisco


        FILLING:
        Cut up apples
        cinnamon

        chopped nuts
        small butter pieces
        raisins

        brown sugar


        Instructions
        Mix flour, baking powder and salt. Then add Crisco and mix. Finally, add the milk and
        mix again. Roll out on a floured surface with a rolling pin until flat. Mix fillings and

        put on top of dough. Roll the dough and brush melted butter lightly on top. Bake in a
        350 degrees until lightly brown and baked through.




        APPLE CRISP

        Ingredients
        8 cups sliced apples



        Place in a greased 9x12 baking dish


        1 1/3 - 1 ½ cup brown sugar                                        1 cup flour

        1 cup rolled oats                                                  1 ½ teaspoon cinnamon
        2/3 cup soft butter


        Instructions
        Mix together and spread over apples. Bake at 350 degrees until apples are tender and

        topping is golden brown for about 30-35 minutes.


        This recipe came from an apple orchard in Hancock, New Hampshire. For a few years

        during the late 1990’s and early 2000’s, we went apple picking while we stayed at the
        Applegate Bed and Breakfast in Peterborough, New Hampshire.
