SVMIC Collaborating with Advanced Practice Providers


                   Jointly outline the standard of care and scope of practice to ensure

                      services are lawful and within the APP’s training and competency.




                LICENSURE & VERIFICATION



                   Obtain any prescreening background checks required by the state

                      (Department of Health or board websites often post links), always
                      check references, verify licensure and document findings.


                   Post any required notices for title transparency, Adult Protective

                      Services, domestic abuse hotline, anti-discrimination, etc.


                   Ensure maintenance of licensure, continuing education and update

                      protocols, formularies and other state specific requirements and
                      hospital and facility bylaws.





                REGULATORY COMPLIANCE


                   Provide training and ensure compliance with HIPAA, the Health

                      Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act

                      (HITECH), as well as any relevant state privacy laws, OSHA, anti-

                      discrimination, appropriate billing and other potential areas of
                      compliance risk.


                   Establishing policies for these areas is generally required by the

                      government or for participation in most health insurer plans.


                   Know the state’s continuing education requirements and ensure

                      APPs have opportunities to meet those requirements.
