Request a Speedchart
How Do I Request a Speedchart?
Overview
SpeedCharts reduce the amount of data entry required for accounting entries by populating the ChartField
string for the users across various pages in Compass. Users typically enter the shortcut value known as the
SppedChart, and the ChartField string populates with the exception of the Account field.
SpeedCharts are defined prior to finalizing Award Budgets. The SpeedChart needs to reflect the Project
ChartField combination. Pay particular attention to Fund Code, Department, Operating Unit, Project ID and
Activity ID while setting up SpeedCharts.
Please note that the Speedchart request for the first budget period will create speedcharts for all ACTIIVTY IDs at the same
time.
The Speedchart request process initiates workflow to the Grants peer group. Once the Speedchart request is approved, you
can finalize the budgets. Please make sure that you don’t click the Finalize button in this step prior to Speedchart approval.
