! WHAT A RIDE THIS HAS BEEN !
We thank everyone who helped the breed Sloughi to race in the USA*; the many people
who helped us hand slip or box our dogs over the years at the many events we went to; all
the competitors who came to the SSARA race meets.
From a first Nationals racer in 1995, to a last Nationals racer in 2013
Amir Shi’Rayân, born April 1993 and Sameer Shi’Rayân, born September 2007
December 2007, Amir was 14, 9 months years old © de Caprona
Throughout the years, except for the Africans, most of the Sloughis racing in the USA
descended from the first racers Aswad Shi’Rayân, A’Ssissa Shi’Rayân and Chamisa Schuru-
esch-Schams. Aswad, A’Ssissa, and Amir descend from a very fast early Sloughi racer in
Germany in the 1980s named Scha'iq Schuru-esch-Schams.
*Editor’s note: Many people who helped had other breeds than Sloughi, whereas, in Iowa
City, IA, at the time, the de Moreau kennel with over 40 Sloughis never did. Owners of
Shi’Rayân Sloughis did come out to race their Sloughis.
