Swiss racing Logo, FCI World Championship 1998, held in Versoix.
I discovered much later that the beautiful facility in Versoix hosted several UICL, and FCI
European and World Championships in racing.
Unfortunately nothing is permanent and the Sociéte Lémanique de Courses de Lévriers
was dissolved by the club’s general assembly in June 2016 after more than 40 years. It was
liquidated in July 2020.
Sighthound racing in Switzerland is regulated by the Interessengemeinschaft für das
Windhundrennwesen der SKG (IGWR ) or Communauté d’Intérêts pour les Courses de
Lévriers de la SCS (CICL)*. SKG/SCS = Swiss Kennel Club.
As of 2025 IGWR/CACL is still active.
We will read more about Sloughi racing in Europe in the next Special issue of the Sloughi
Review.
*Editor’s note: Community of interests for sighthound races of the Swiss Kennel Club.
