About the author

Alla Kacimi El Hassani was born in 1976 and graduated from the University of Algiers. He
is a descendant of the Marabout of El Hamel Sidi Mohamed Belkacem, owner of the
Sloughis imported by the painter Auguste Le Gras in 1898.

From a very young age Alla was passionate about Sloughi as he lived in Boussaâda, the
cradle of Sloughi. But following the dark decade of terrorism in Algeria, he gave up

breeding and returned to town.

Since 2018 and following the realization of the disappearance of this breed, he has started
with a group of specialists an active approach to save the Sloughi resulting in the creation
of the national association for the protection of the Sloughi in 2021.

Alla Kacimi el Hassani continues to defend this breed on several fronts in order to restore
the Sloughi to its place in Algerian society as before.
