Louis Chatelain, the archaeologist who As we know, the Sloughi is also used as a
described the dog, points out on the basis of guard dog and watchdog.
the proportions of the hind legs that, as with
the racehorse, this dog has special
proportions. Therefore it can be assigned to
         a sighthound type.

"It is a dog whose breed cannot be assigned to
a specific type. It closely resembles the
Sloughis. The length of the hock to the hip, 27
cm, is characteristic in relation to the limited

length (12cm) from the tip of the hock to the
toe: it is known that the length of the radii for
a racehorse is one of the determining factors

         for speed."

As can be seen in the photograph, the
bronze dog wears a collar. And chiselled all
over the back is a consistently wide band of Tagiurie el Sian with owner Kate Rodarty, 1973.
