Welcome to the eleventh issue of the
Sloughi Review.
It focuses on two important sighthound
sports: coursing and straight racing.
First, Ullis Sundell tells us all about the
FCI World Championships in Coursing
2023 that took place in her country,
Sweden.
She gives us all the details about the event
and why it was very special in more than
one way for the Sloughi in Sweden and for
the breed in general in the western world.

I then take you down memory lane to an
American event that was the highlight in
straight racing in the Midwest every year:
the Northland Sprint Challenge or “Iron
Dog” event. It offered three consecutive
days of straight racing with a tally of points
that decided who was the winner at the
end.
In many European countries it is not
possible to hunt with Sloughis, so that non-
commercial coursing and racing are the
closest one can offer to this athletic breed.
