Sloughia Seraap, belonging to M. de Foucault, chateau de l’Ermitage.
In L’Acclimatation illustrée, 1884.
Text accompanying this picture: “The bitch that we represent today and whose mother
belonged to General d'Aubigny, was offered to Monsieur de Foucault by a superior officer who
was able to obtain it during the Tunisian campaign. She is one of the most beautiful animals
known, she is three years old, her weight is 50 pounds. She is surrounded by her young,
coming from a male also imported from Tunisia in the same conditions, they are barely a
month old, but it should be noted that the young of this breed are much more advanced than
those of other species.”
Lévrier Sloughi, lévrier anglais. Sighthound Sloughi, English sighthound.
