“Contest of the journal L’Acclimatation for the presentation of the most beautiful types of

animals. Sighthound Sloughi. The subject which has the honor of the engraved representation
belongs to Mr. Musany, the learned horse man, whose works are particularly appreciated by
Hippologists. The dog, Colin, received 2nd prize at the Tuileries Exhibition last year; he is the
representative of a family of Sighthounds that, for many long years, Mr. Musany has
cultivated with a particular care and a breeder’s skilled knowledge. To judge by this portrait,
exact copy of a photograph, one realizes the perfection of form that selection, evidently
joined to perseverance, which is at the base of the breeder’s knowledge, can bring; only
experience can guide in the delicate operations of the choice of breeding animals.”
